New Juniors Coach Named |
| |
We are pleased to announce Jim Andersen has been named as the new Chesapeake Junior Crew Head Coach and Youth Programming Director for the OKC Boathouse Foundation. Jim brings to us a wealth of experience coming from the Marin Juniors in California where he served as a head coach for 17 years. He won five
Junior National Championship titles during his tenure while also coaching masters men's program to regional, national, and world titles. Jim has also served as the US Coach for the Canamex team (we hosted the Canamex camp in July).
Coach Andersen comes highly recommended by former athletes, parents, national officials, and coaching colleagues. We are going into the fall 2008 season with a stellar coaching team that will also include the return of coach Melanie Borger. Additional assistant coaches will soon be announced and we hope to have a very successful recruitment effort for new rowers. Additional details will be available at Sunday's meeting and Coaches Andersen and Borger will be present.
We are excited that the previous success of the Chesapeake Junior Crew and the great momentum of rowing in OKC has attracted such a high caliber of applicants. With the hiring of Coach Andersen, the Chesapeake Junior Crew enters another exciting new era and we are poised for great success with program growth, athlete development, and continued rise as a nationally competitive junior team.
